Sport of Ski-injf The sport of ski-ing, which is gaining great popularity locally a? a result of the recent discovery of a suitable snowfield conveniently situated to the,town, received further impetus by the visit last week of Mr Otto Santner, an Austrian ski expert, who in at present stationed at Queenstqwn. Mr Santner, who met several of'the local enthusiasts, expressed himself as keenly interested in the snowfields of the Carrick Range, adjoining Cromwell. Arising out of his visit a number of enthusiasts from the town and district now make regular trips to Queenstown to receive, instruction in Mr Saritner's method of dry ski-ing. With the further snowfall which occurred last week, the snowfields were in splendid order and a large number of devotees of the sport visited the area over the week-end. Badminton Badminton, which is gaining in popularity locally, has received a distinct filip as the result of visits from outside clubs. The" local club recently received a visit from an Invercargifl team, and an interesting display by the visitors was much appreciated by local members. Last week a Clyde team paid a visit, art enjoyable evening's play resulting. Clyde started off well and won the first two games, but Cromwell won the remaining 14 games. A return match will be played at Clyde on Tuesday evening when Cromwell will be represented by Mrs Duthie, Misses Gordon, O'Kane, Stumbles, and Gibson, and Messrs Crookshank, Ryan. Neil and Wheeler.
