BOROUGH OF ST. KILDA
MEETING OF COUNCIL The fortnightly meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr J. J. Marlow) presiding. There were also present: Crs N. D. Anderson, W. J. Lovel, R. S. Brent, T.«D. B. Roy, J. C. Cherry, H. H. Johnson, and W. Rutherford. 'Finance Accounts amounting to £SBO 17s Id, were passed for payment. It was reported that receipts since last meeting of the council amounted to £lßl 9s 3d, and that the credit bank balance at date stood at £2146 19s lid. The Finance Committee's report was adopted. Water Consumption It was reported that the water consumption for the fortnight ended at noon that day was 2,798,000 gallons, at a cost of £llO 15s Id, compared with £lll 16s 5d for the previous two weeks. —Noted. Departmental Reports In his fortnightly report, the plumber (Mr A. N. Shepperd) stated that 11 bursts had been repaired. He had also been engaged in routine work on pipe repairs and installations, and inspections.—Noted, i _ ■ The traffic inspector (Mr F. De Largey) reported having issued 39 drivers' licences during the fortnight.— Noted The foreman (Mr J. Clyma) reported that during the period ended on July 8 the council's workmen had been engaged on general maintenance work. During the ensuing fortnight they would be carting soil, placing kerbs and channels, and maintenance work. The work of spreading soil on the lawns bordering the footpaths, had been delayed on account of wet weather. The report was adopted. Technical Managers It was decided that the town clerk (Mr J. V. Trezise) record the council's vote at the meeting to be held on August 3 for the purpose of electing representatives on the Technical School Board of Managers.
