PAN-PACIFIC MEETING PART OF CENTENNIAL GAMES (Per United Press Association; AUCKLAND, July 10. i It Is proposed to hold the PanPacific Amateur Swimming Championships at Auckland from January 10 to January 15 as part of the Centennial Games'. Arrangements to hold. a big carnival are in the hands of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, and it is proposed to delegate the conduct of the negotiations, which it is hoped will attract swimmers from Honolulu, Canada, and the United States, to the managers of the Australian surf team' visiting Honolulu. The Australians are to compete with representatives of the three countries mentioned in the Surf Championships at Honolulu, and it is felt that the occasion lends itself to negotiations. The idea is that overseas swimmers should visit Australia in February and that they should break their journey at Auckland in order to participate in the Pan-Pacific Championships. Following that they could take part in the New Zealand championship meeting in Wellington, when a strong Australian contingent is likely to be present.
