Cook, and Misses Isherwood and C, Potts. Mesdames Arnold and J. A. McDonald gave a report on the, Provincial Conference. Congratulations were extended to Mrs Webb on her success in the baking section of the Dunedin Winter Show. The competitions resulted:—Best bloom—Miss G Kane 1. Miss J. Kane 2, Mrs M. Robert, son 3; best carrots —Mrs J. A. McDon. aid 1, Mrs D. Kane 2. Miss J. Kane 3, The hostesses were Mesdames Robertson. Wilson, and McDonald. V V VThe monthly meeting of the Hillend branch was held on Saturday last, Mrs James presided. The roll call was "An economy hint.” It was decided to send delegates to ' Young Farmers’ and Country Girls’ Week The president gave an interesting report on the conference. The comftition resulted:—Bloom—Mrs Gordon Mrs James 2; coconut ice—Mrs Moir I. Mrs James 2 article made at school —Mrs Gordon 1, Mrs Moir 2. The members of the Farmers Union were entertained at supper, the hostesses being Mesdames Cunningham and Bishop.
