ST. CLAIR GOLF CLUB

SECOND ANNUAL BALL COLOURFUL FROCKING The St. Clair Golf Club Ball, held on Thursday evening in the Pioneer Hall, proved even more popular than the initial function of last year, and was well attended by members and friends. A prevailing atmosphere of conviviality suggested the good-fellow-ship which reigns in this old-estab-lished club. The frocking was delight, ful, and real flowers were fashionable, ns both hair and gown ornaments. On a dais at the end of the hall, which was simply decorated with blue pennants, foliage and overhanging streamers, stood the life-sized figure of a golfer supporting a veritable armoury

of clubs with equanimity. Here, too, was a well-appointed lounge for the use of the chief guests, among whom were Mr A. C. Hanlon (president of the club). Lady Sidey (president of the Ladies’ Committee), Mr W N. Satterthwaite (vice-president) and Mrs Satterthwaite, and 'the captain of the club (Mr J. E. Macassey) and Mrs Macassey. Lady Sidey was attired in a lovely gown of blue taffeta shot with pink and a white fur wrapt Mrs Satterthwaite wore turquoise taffeta and an embossed velvet coatee, and Mi's Macassey a gown of soft powder blue lace. I The following members of the Women’s Committee were present:— Mrs Frank Sherriff. who wore blue crepe patterned in silver, with diamente trimming; Mrs O. Gaden. red and black striped taffeta; Mrs S. E T Crimp, grape-coloured lace georgette over fuchsia taffeta; and Mrs E. Bolwell, royal blue georgette over cerise satin.
