KAHUNA CLUB FIFTY YEARS OF EXISTENCE The annual meeting of the Kaituna Bowling Club (Incorporated) was held last night when there was a good attendance of members, the president iMr R. Fullarton) being in the chair. Reference was made during the evening to the forthcoming jubilee of the commencement of the club’s activities. The company to form the club was promoted in 1889, and a green was officially opened the following year. It was decided that it would be; more appropriate to celebrate the jubilee this season. At the opening of the meeting, the chairman referred to the deaths of three members, Messrs W. Smart, J. Barron, and M ; J. Lister, and a motion of sympathy with the relatives was carMoving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet the president said the past year had been a particularly enjoyable one. The club had two excellent greens and the members were a sociable group, and both these factors greatly added to the pleasure of the game. The motion was seconded by Mr T. Sanders and carried. Reviewing the finances, the treasurer (Mr J. M. Adam) said that the receipts had exceeded the expenditure but. as there was an accumulated debit balance, the club was still in debt to the extent of £167 9s 7d.

The electing of officers resulted as follows:—President. Mr D. Standage; vice-president, Mr H. Campbell; treasurer, Mr J. M. Adam; secretary, Mr H. C. Jones; auditor, Mr F. W. Hoddinott; selector, Mr W. F. Abel; club tie supervisor, Mr H. S. Reid; delegates to the centre—Messrs J. J. Davis, H. S. Reid, and J. Allan; committee—Messrs L. R, Lockhead, A. Miller, H. Smeaton, J. Robertson, A. Scolon, and L. F Abel.

After some discussion, it was decided to recommend to the committee that four sections be played in the Saturday games, instead: of five as last year, owing to the difficulty in securing the larger number of players. Three remits, from the Roslyn, Leith and Logan Park Clubs, concerning the number of games to be played in the interclub competitions on Saturdays, were discussed, and the delegates were instructed to vote against these proposals, a motion being carried that the delegates be Instructed to vote for not fewer than 10 playing Saturdays.

In regard to the remit of the Balmacewen Club—“ That the closing of the entries for the various competitions be left until the middle of October,” the delegates were given a free hand.

A- remit from the same club that a Fours Tournament be held at New Year was opposed. The club favoured the Dunedin Centre executive’s remit that the Leads and Seconds’ Tournament be continued. '

Approval was also given to the centre’s i-emit concerning the playing of the four-rink games. A recommendation to the delegates for presentation to the Draw Committee was sponsored by Mr H. Smeaton to the effect that there should be three sections in the Four-rink Championship, and that play should be commenced' in the first week in December. His reason for this was to avoid interference with the club ties.—The recommendation was approved, PORT CHALMERS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING "The annual meeting of the Port Chalmers Bowling Club was held last night, Mr T. Chettleburgh presiding over a fair attendance of members, i The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the chairman remarking on the successful year which had been completed and on the satisfactory state of the club’s finances. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Messrs N. Dodds, a foundation member of the club, and J. da Costa. General Messrs J, Watson and J. Crawford were elected life members of the club.

The request from the Ladies’ Club that a combined opening should be held was agreed to. On the recommendation of the selector, it was decided that six rinks (two sections) should be entered for the Saturday Interclub Competition. A series of remits from the Dunedin Centre was considered, and the club’s delegates were advised to take what action they considered suitable. On the motion of Mr J. Miller, it was decided that a recommendation should be submitted to the Match Committee that more satisfactory arrangements should be made for the club ties. It was decided, on the president’s motion, that the selector should be appointed a member of the committee ex officio. A tribute was paid to the work of the green supervisor, Mr J. Chettleburgh, whose duties had been made more difficult by the fact that the work on the reclaimed ground had caused temporary submersion of a section of the green. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr W. G. Love; vice-president, Mr C. Douglas: secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Willmott; committee—Messrs P. W. Jenks, R. Black, M. Monti and R. Harwood; Billiards Committee —Messrs T. Mathewson, J. Munro and D. McLean; delegates to the Dunedin Centre, the president and Mr C. Smith; selector, Mr J. W. Wilson; auditor, Mr J.
