GERMAN TENDERS
REJECTED IN CAPETOWN A COMPLAINT LODGED CAPETOWN, June 10. (Received June 11, at 11 p.m.) / The German plenipotentiary is directing the attention of newspapers and public bodies to a complaint he lodged with the Government against the Capetown Municipality rejecting German tenders for cables and copper wire, although they were considerably lower. The municipality, however, accepted British and Dutch tenders. He states that discrimination against German tenders will seriously affect the exchange of goods, and asks the reason for the rejection of German tenders.
The chairman of the Electricity Committee states that the rejection was in accordance with the wish of the majority of the council, who, for obvious reasons, decided to give British pnd South Afridan manufacturers 10 per cent, preference, and even more if justified.
