WRESTLING
TO THE EDITOIt
Sir,—lt was a pity that the Wrestling, Association did not make certain Paul Boesch was fit for his bout in Dunedin. Anyone could see from the start that he was at a distinct disadvantage and could not give of his best. After the way his bout finished with Blomfleld I was amazed to see him enter the ring here. Clark made full use of Boesch’s disability and the wonder of it is, more serious damage was not done. After all it is the public who keep wrestling going and are entitled to see two fit men in action. Also a word about the refereeing. Why does Mr Anderson persistently try to keep the wrestlers apart when they are in the centre of the ring? Take, for instance, after Boesch had dumped Clark three or four times with crutch holds. Why did he keep Boesch from getting his fall? Clark's feet were certainly under the ropes, but that should not have made the referee keep Boesch from getting a body press. I have also noticed on previous' occasions this referee appearing to favour Blomfleld. I will give one instance only. When Blomfield had Donovan in an Indian deathlock in the previous bout he allowed “Lofty" to come to his feet by using the ropes and getting the extra lever age all the time the hold was applied. A referee can make or mar a match and I am convinced this kind of refereeing does not improve the bout? here. —I am, etc.. Splits. Dunedin, June 10.
