THE LIQUOR TRAFFIC
ro rue editor
Sir,—l feel I must endorse the remarks made by "Moral Rearmament" in the Otago Daily Times of Friday, June 9. I also am at a loss to know what constitutes an unsatisfactory hotel. Is it lawful to sell liquor at all hours, night and day and Sunday included, as long as there is no noise or misbehaviour in the hotel? Could anyone say that no liquor is obtainable in an hotel after 6 p.m. in Dunedin? If he does he must be blind, or go round with a shield over his eyes. I am completely at a loss to know why so much attention is given to the small shopkeeper, who has to try to get a living in a 6mall shop when almost.no attention is given to the after-hour trading in hotels. And yet we have the committee reporting that all is run well and in good order. It surely is a case of the blind being unable to see. for anyone who has eyes at all knows what is going on.—l ani, etc., Dunedin, June 9. Old Digger.
