A remarkable display, possibly unique in New Zealand, on the control of a team of four sheepdogs, was given by Mr J. S. Tait, of Dannevirke, at the combined field day of the Dannevirke Young Farmers' Club and the Southern Hawke's Bay branch of the Farmers' Union. Demonstrations of this kind are usually confined to a single dog, but Mr Tait used a team of four to handle the sheep, and the perfection of control astonished the spectators. Three sheep were used for the demonstration. Mr Tait began to work the animals quietly and efficiently by bringing each of the four dogs into action as occasion demanded. Each dog had its allotted task during the demonstration, and at times more than one dog was called into action during the yarding of the sheep in the pen provided for the purpose, which was accomplished without a. single break.
