VILLAGES WILL BE SOLD Earl Poulett is to sell 3200 acres of his estate at Hilton St. George. Somerset. It includes a village, two hamlets. and 17 farms. He intends to retain Hinton House, with its mark of 1300 acres (states the Daily Mail). The house, said to have been built in the fifteenth century, has a suite of State apartments prepared for Queen Anne. The remainder of the estate, which has a rent roll of £6IOO. will be offered by auction during the summer. It includes almost all the village of Hilton St. George, with its thatched and stone houses, the hamlest of Dinnington and Allowenshay. and Priory Farm, which was once owned bv a monastery. Earl Poulett. who is 29, succeeded to the title when his father was killed in action in 1918. He married Miss Oriel Ross, the actress, in 1935. He is a wellknown first-nighter of the London theatres, and likes to wear a huge white carnation and a crimson-lined cloak on such occasions.
