Place the hide in the cask and leave for two weeks, lifting it out daily and stirring up the lime before replacing it. The hair is then scraped off by means of a blunt knife, and then any lumps of flesh remaining are scraped or cut oft. Wash well in cold water to remove excess lime, Nail on board and dry out in a shady place. When working it up damp in water to make more pliable. No matter what tanning or curing process is used, the skin must be either green (Just off the animal), or if it is dried it must ba well soaked in water before the curing process begins.
