OBITUARY
MRS JANET HENDERSON Another sudden and unexpected death occurred at Milton on Tuesday, Mrs Janet Henderson passing away at the residence of her son in Springfield road at the age of 89 years. Mrs Henderson was a woman who had always enjoyed good health, and was of a cheerful disposition. Born at Springbank, Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1850, she was a daughter of James and Helen Gray. Her parents emigrated to New Zealand in 1862 in the sailing vessel Arima, landing at Port Chalmers, and went to reside at Invercargill. In 1874, at Dunedin, she married Matthew Henderson, the ceremony being performed by Dr Stuart. After their marriage the young couple took up a farming property at Maeraki, later taking over the general store at Milburn, which they carried on successfully for about 30 years. On their retirement in 1912 Mr and Mrs Henderson went to live at Anderson’s Bay, where Mr Henderson died in 1920.
About 14 months ago Mrs Henderson went to Milton to reside with her son. Of a family of five sons and five daughters, the following survive her: John (Nelson), Thomas (Dunedin), Robert (Invercargill), Frank (Sydney), James (Milton). Mrs F. H. Taylor (London), Mrs Fitz Henry (Christchurch), Misses Frances and Ethel (Dunedin). She is also survived by two sisters-—Mrs Baxter (aced 93, of Dunedin) and Mrs McKay (aged 82. of Invercargill). The funeral took plac6 at the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery on Wednesday. MR S. V. BEAUFOY (Per United Press Association) GISBORNE, May 11. The death has occurred at the age of 49 years of Mr Stanley Victor Beaufoy, a member of the legal profession, who had practised at Timaru, Wairoa, and Gisborne. At one time he was a member of the Gisborne Borough Council.
