MACANDREW ROAD SCHOOL

COMMITTEE MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Macandrcw Road School was held on Monday. Mr H, K. Ross (chairman) presiding. Mr A. M. Davidson (the headmaster) presented his report for April. There was an increase of 15 pupils during the term, making a total of 507 on the rolls. The average percentage of attendance was 93.3. This was satisfactory in view of the prevalence of influenza during the month. The headmaster expressed regret at losing the services of Mr J W Hook, who had gained promotion to the Musselburgh School. During the four years Mr Hook had been on the staff he had proved himself a capable assistant, maintaining a keen interest in every phase of the work. Before leaving, he vvas bade farewell by the teachers and the pupils, who made him a ’suitable presentation. The nurse in charge of the dental clinic reported that 591 children from both schools were receiving treatment. The annual balance sheet was read and adopted.
