PIGEON RACING

YOUNG BIRD DERBY The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its Young Bird Derby from Ashburton on Saturday. The stationmaster liberated 60 birds, representing 17 lofts, in fine, calm weather, and the birds evidently appreciated the conditions by putting up a fast flight. The winning bird completed the distance of 153 miles in three hours 25 minutes, at an average velocity of 1319 yards per minute. Result:— , H. Millard’s Silver Wings 1 J.
