WORLD'S YOUNGEST CONDUCTOR
CLEVER YOUNG AUSTRALIAN Young Charles Stanton, the band leader with the Young Australian Boys' Band and Revue, was selected to lead the pageant which marched across the Sydney Harbour bridge immediately Mr. J. Lang had cut the historical piece of ribbon at the official opening. This lad was thus the first citizen to cross that world-famed structure. He also led the Duke of Gloucester's official procession through Sydney, and was congratulated personally by his Royal Highness on his smartness and military bearing. Charles Stanton was then only eight years of age. Since then he has visited South Africa, Rhodesia and England and other overseas countries, and he will be seen in action when, the Young Australians commence their revue and band season at His Majesty's Theatre next Wednesday. He sings, dances, conducts the band, takes part in the sketches and plays the xylophone, and he is only one of the talented troupe of young performers. The Young Australians played a record season at Auckland recently, when huge audiences acclaimed their performance as one of the most brilliant and novel productions ever seen there. They present a two hours and thxee quarters fast-moving revue with pleasing music, attractive stage presentations and costumes which delight both young and old. Seats may be reserved at the D.I.C. A matinee will be presented next Saturday.
