MILTON Magistrate's Court The monthly sitting of the Milton Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M., presiding. David Catts (Wellington) was charged with exceeding the speed limit of 30 miles per hour in Milton on November 7, and was convicted and fined 30s, with court costs (10s). E. L. Friedlander (Dunedin) pleaded guilty to a charge of exceeding the speed limit of 25 miles per hour in a motor lorry on February 23, and was convicted and fined 40s. with court costs (10s). W. Millar McElrea (Milton), on a charge of driving without a warrant of fitness, pleaded guilty, and was convicted and fined ss, with 10s court Judgment was given for the plaintiffs by default in the following cases: Stewarts Ltd, v. D. Dawson, claim £1 3s Ud, with court costs (8s); Moores Stores Ltd. v. C. J. Shortcliffe. claim £7 17s 6c, with court costs (£1 Is) and solicitor's fee (15s 6d); Moores Stores Ltd. v H. G. O. Styles, claim £4 10s, court costs (10s), and solicitor's fee (15s 6d); John Campbell v. M. Fahey, claim £5 18s, with 19s court costs and 10s 6d solicitor's fee James Jeffrey Dickie, law clerk, Dunedin was charged with, at Clarksville, on March 18, being the driver of a "motor car. he failed to keep such vehicle as close as possible to the lefthand side of the roadway.—Mr E. Bruce Scottish Society The monthly social of the Bruce Scottish Society was held on Thursday night in St. John's Hall, when there was a large attendance of membens and friends. An excellent programme was presented by members of the Balclutha Scottish Society, assisted by local members. The following contributed to the programme:— Mrs Anderson, songs; Newbigging family, musical items; Messrs H. Sutherland and R. Bruce, readings; Mr I. Dallas, xylophone solos; Miss Reid, sean triubhais; Misses K. Scott and L. Craigie, double sword dance; Miss June Hills, sean truibhais. Supper was handed round, and an hour's dancing concluded the function.
