SURF LIFE-SAVING

VISITING SUMNER TEAM DEFEATED BY ST. CLAIR A surf life-saving competition between teams from the St. Clair Surf Life Saving Club and the Sumner Surf Club was held at St. Clair yesterday afternoon and was won by the St. Clair A team. Sumner and St. Clair B were second equal and the St. Clair junior team was third. The surf was heavy and there was a strong shore " dumper." The fastest swim was recorded by Reid and Mclndoc of the St. Clair B team, and fast times were also put up by E. V. Tose (St. Clair A) and N. McPhail (Sumner). The following are the results:— St. Clair A (H. D. Gillies, E. V. Tose, C. W. Elliott, J. B. Robert, H. R. Callender and A. G. Beadle), 694 points .. .. .. 1 Sumner (S. Nicholls, N. McPhail. J.
