ROAD-SAFETY PENNANTS

COMPETITION AMONG CITIES SUGGESTION BY MINISTER (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 14. The Minister of Transport (Mr R. Semple) suggested to-day that all cities should fly road safety pennants during 1939 to see which could achieve the longest period of freedom from fatalities. To prepare for traffic in the centennial year and keep before citizens the need for saving lives on the road, he announced that a new Wellington pennant, the gift of the Deputy Mayor (Mr Luckie), was being raised shortly, replacing the one lowered owing to a recent fatality. Wellington still led the Dominion in the number of days free from fatalities.
