DEFENCE NEEDS

COLONIAL DEPENDENCIES UNDER CONSTANT REVIEW e (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Feb. 8. (Received Feb. 9, at 6.30 p.m.) In a House of Commons answer Mr Malcolm MacDonald stated that the defence needs of the colonial dependencies were under constant review by appropriate sub-commit-tees of the Imperial Defence Committee and reports on the measures taken during the recent crisis had been received from a'number of the most important dependencies. Action had been taken upon them where it seemed necessary. In these circumstances he did not consider it necessary to ask for a report from all the colonial Governments on the adequacy of the measures taken last September.
