A STRONG GERMANY

Germany's growth as a great central Power was bound to have happened sooner or later, said Sir Arnold Wilson, M.P.. in a recent speech. He added that Germany could not be indefinitely kept in a position of inferiority. Because she was in a position of great strength it did not follow in the least that Britain and Germany were bound to be enemies for all time. “ I detest German methods. German intolerance, German brutality, and I have little faith in German philosophy,” he said. “I say that of Germany, and it might be equally true of Russia. The lesson of history is we British should never assume that any one country is our inveterate enemy.”
