Adams presided at the monthly meeting of the Heriot Institute, held on Thursday last. The motto was “People who help most are those who encourage us.” An instructive and interesting demonstration on “Preparing poultry for the table,” was given by Mrs Rae. of Crookston. The roll call was “My favourite flower, and why.” Mrs Sim contributed a musical monologue, “ Uncle’s Advice.” Mrs Carter tendered her resignation as press secretary owing to her departure for Heriot. The competition resulted: Best arranged vase of flowers—Mrs A. Paterson 1. Miss I. Paterson 2, Mrs Herbert 3. The hostesses were Miss Moncur and Mesdames E. B. Paterson and L. Paterson.
