REPORTS - OF > COMMITTEES The following is a summary of the reports of the various committees which will be presented-at the' monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital Board to-night:— Benevolent Committee The Benevolent Committee will report having dealt with 59 casual cases for relief amounting to £137 4s 4d. , 1 ' During the past month 13 persons had been admitted to, 10 discharged from, and five deaths had occurred at the infirmary ward and Talboys Home. At present 117 inmates remain in. the institution. ■■ Hospital Committee The Hospital Committee will recommend that the following appointments to the honorary visiting, staff be approved:—Dr Dodds, dean of the School of Dentistry, as honorary dental surgeon; two honorary assistant dental surgeons; Dr E. T. D’Ath, as honorary pathologist; Dr C. E. Hercus, as honorary bactefioligist. s The committee will further recommend that, in view of the report received' from Miss Moore, of the nursing division, Department of Health, and the suggestion of, the matron, two additional senior sisters be appointed in a supervising capacity, to the nursing staff, Dunedin Hospital. A further recommendation by the committee will be' that Dr Raymond Kirk be appointed physician to the Massage Department. , ■ ;• The, committee will report that Ministerial approval has now been received to the purchase of a K X--500 transformer Watson Victor X-ray diagnostic equipment, and authority given for the order to be ' placed after the radio diagnostician has conferred with the engineer of Watson, Victor, Ltd. The plans of, the proposed additions to the X-ray block to provide additional accommodation for .X-ray and deep therapy work have been forwarded to Mr Strong for his ap- ■ proval or otherwise, and Messrs Watson, Victor, Ltd., have been ad-r ~ vised.,- The board will await conference with Mr Burt, chief engineer for Watson, Victor, Ltd., up6h his return to New Zealand. ; The archi- .. tects have been instructed, in com- f pleting the plans, to provide for two additional storeys to this building, providing approximately 100 beds.
