THE TWO ROBERDILLAS The traditional atmosphere of the sawdust ring will come to Dunedin on Thursday with Perry Brothers’s new modern circus of 50 international performers, together with the zoo of 18 cages of jungle animals and a herd of elephants. Heading this array of. talent are the two Roberdillas. described as the most sensational act ever imported to Australia and New Zealand. Albert Roberdilla turns a complete backward somersault on the tight wire, and he is said to be the only performer in the world to attempt, let alone succeed in. this difficult feat. He also rides an ordinary bicycle both forward and backward on the wire. Supporting this act will be one of the strongest combinations of circus performers ever to tour New Zealand, including the “ only woman tiger trainer in the world,” Madam Danada. who enters the steel cage carrying with her no more protection than an ordinary chair. Another feature of Perry Brothers’s circus is Hector Hill and his performing dogs One of the world’s greatest novelties comes with Professor Leon, who has mastered the difficult art of training sheep, and from America comes Miss La Silbine. contortionist extraordinary In addition to these acts there are performers from all parts of the world —acrobats, tumblers, ladder and porch pole balancers, trapeze artists, spring board and risley artists, men and women riders, rope spinners jugglers, performing horses lions, tigers, dogs, elephants, and the black leopard cub, said to be the only known one of its kind in the world. From Europe Perry Brothers have imported a new team of clowns and dummies, who will introduce a new type of fun and merriment. The zoo will be open from 4 to 5 p.m. daily for the feeding of the animals. There will be matinees on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons at 2.30 The location will be at the Caledonian Grounds.
