RED CURRANTS

For those who find red currants and raspberries rather cloying, here is a new way of serving them. Stew the fruit together with plenty of sugar and very little water. Cut some rounds of bread, fry them In butter until they are golden brown, and arrange cream cheese round the edge. Heap the raspberry and currant compote in the centre of each.
