COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

A most enjoyable evening was spent on Monday last,- when Mr and Mrs V. M. Dickinson, of “ Craigmore,” Macandrew Bay, entertained relatives and friends at the Somerset Lounge, the occasion being the coming of age

of their only daughter, Dorothy Nancy. The evening was spent in dancing and .games, interspersed with musical items. Mrs Dickinson in a frock of navy and gold georgette received the guests, assisted by her daughter, who wore a becoming frock of palest pink georgette with a silver studded coatee. A feature of the evening was the novel birthday cake. This was designed to represent a spiral staircase of 21 stairs. On each step was a rose in which was set a candle, and approaching the bottom step was a beautiful model of an infant. Poised at the top of the staircase, beneath an archway, was a statuette of a modern young lady, the top bar of the archway being formed by a large chromium key.

Among those present were: Mrs V. Dickinson < grandmother of Miss Dickinson), Mrs J. McCrorie (great aunt), Mr and Mrs C. Bills, Mr and Mrs J. Dickinson. Mrs T. Graham, Mr and Mrs G. MacDonald, Mr and Mrs E. A. Lucas, Mr and Mrs Barkman. Mrs C. M. Barnett: Misses _ Vivienne Dickinson, A. Hemsley, B. Miller, J. E. Shackleton. G. Blair, D. Brown, and E. Spicer; Messrs W. Dickinson, C. Bills, jun., S. Kenna, L. Henderson, J. S. Williams, C. S. MacDonald, R. Patterson, and M. Beasley.
