Pursuant to the provisions of “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” and all other powers and authorities; therewith in that behalf enabling it, the Dunedin City Council Hereby Gives Public Notice of its intention, subject to the consent of the Ratepayers, to raise Special Loans of £IOO,OOO and £50,000 respectively for the purpose and in the terms hereinafter appearing, that is to say:— (1) PROPOSED LOAN OF £IOO,OOO. (a) The particular purpose for which the loan is required is to effect improvements to the streets of the City. (b) The sum proposed to be borrowed is One hundred thousand .Pounds (£100,000), and the loan shall be known as “The Public Works Loan, 1938.” The rate of interest ■ to be paid in respect of the proposed loan shall not exceed - 3i per cent.'- per annum unless altered as may be lawfully prescribed. (c) The proposed security to be pledged to meet the . yearly charges on the said proposed loan is an annually recurring rate of one penny three farthings did) in the pound (“ £ ”) on the rateable value of all rateable property within the City of Dunedin as appearing in the Valuation Roll in force for the time being. The provision for the repayment of the said proposed loan is that a Sinking Fund of Three pounds Ten shillings (£3 10s) per centum per annum on the amount of the loan shall be provided towards such repayment and that the said loan shall have a currency of twenty years at the expiry of which period it shall be fully paid off. (d) It is not proposed to -pay out of the loan the cost of raising the same, nor the interest and Sinking Fund for the first year. (2) PROPOSED LOAN OF £50,000. (a) The particular purpose for which the loan is required is to extend and improve the waterworks of the City of Dunedin. (b) The sum proposed to be borrowed is Fifty thousand pounds (£50,000). and the Loan shall be known as “The Waterworks Loan. 1938.” The rate of interest to be paid in respect of the proposed loan shall not exceed 3£ per cent, per annum, unless altered as may be lawfully prescribed. (c) The proposed security to be pledged to meet the yearly charges on the said proposed loan is an annually recurring rate of one penny (Id) in the Pound (“ £ ”) on the rateable value of all rateable property within the City of Dunedin as appearing in the Valuation Roll in force for the time being. The provision for the repayment of the said proposed loan is that a Sinking Fund of Three punds Ten Shillings (£3 10s) per centum ner annum on the amount of the Loan shall be provided towards such repayment, and that the said loan shall have a currency of twenty years, at the expiry of which period it shall be fully paid off.
