Making hay while the sun shines is bv all accounts a pleasurable occupation, but it has its drawbacks, as one Auckland office worker testified after his first few days' work in the fields. He had been detailed to operate the mechanical grab which lifts the hay from the sweeps to the top of the stack. Not being too sure of himself, he released his first load too soon, and it drooped scmarelv on the head of the worker forking hav on the top of the stack. "It was hot and thirsty work," he added with a wink. " and not a glass of beer within a mile. All we had was oatmeal water."
