THE STEEL INDUSTRY
IMPORTANT BRITISH FIRM BANK SECURES CONTROL (Independent Cable Service) PARIS, Jan. 10. (Received Jan. 11, at 1 a.m.) The Bank of England has acquired voting control in the £8,500,000 steel sheetmaking firm of John Summers. Thus Mr Montague Norman becomes head of an important section of the British steel industry. He will be chairman of the controlling committee, with a casting vote.
