DROWNED IN RIVER BOY STEPS INTO HOLE • Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. Stepping into a hole while wading in the Waikaneae River, Alec Eggan, aged about 14. an orphan, was drowned. A girl who was with him had a narrow escape and was revived only after artificial respiration ahd been applied. Eggan’s guardian was Mr M. Deckston, of Wellington. The girl was rescued by a witness of the accident, but Eggan had disappeared. MOTOR COLLISION AT OUTRAM As a result of a collision between two motor cars near Outram last night, George Hendry, an 11-year-old boy, who resides at Outram, received injuries to his head sufficiently severe for him to be placed on the seriously ill list when he was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 8 o’clock.
