BANKERS PERPLEXED
DRAFTS FOR TRAVELLERS UNCERTAINTY OF POSITION ‘Special to Daily Times' AUCKLAND, Jan. 9. Daily facing an increasing number of inquiries from New Zealanders proposing to spend the winter months in other countries and anxious to discover how much money they will be allowed to spend, Auckland bank managers have so far received no official information to resolve their perplexity. It is stated that although their clients naturally look to them for information- and advice they have had only their observations of the treatment of individual applications to remit money overseas as a guide to what they can tell inquirers. It is learned that apparent inconsistencies have occurred in the permits granted, and failing definite advice of the basis being used by the Reserve Bank the perplexity of bank officers has been deepened. The only official test of which they are aware, it is stated, is an assurance that all reasonable requirements will be granted.
