SKI-ERS USE WOOL
A PROTECTIVE MEASURE (From Our Own Correspondent) (By Air Mall) LONDON, Dec. 15. “Winter Cavalcade,” the brilliant spectacle now showing to enthusiastic crowds at Earl’s Court, has found a novel use for wool. Ski-ing is always ... high-speed sport, and when in a restricted area it is necessary to have a buffer between performers and spectators. At Earl’s Court many materials were tried before wool with its elastic ana non-inflammable poperties, was found to be the idea) substance. The low buffer wall is built ot bales of raw wool and protects the ski-ers from possible damage and the audience from the excitement of'having an enthusiastic ski-er landing in their midst. Ski-ers have long used wool to protect themselves from cold, but surely this is the first time they have used it to guard against bruises. The International Wool Secretariat received a request for this wool only five minutes before the Wool Exchange closed, but they were able to arrange for two tons to be delivered the same day.
