F O’Leary, of Wellington, with their son, are spending a .short holiday at the Hermitage, Mount Cook Mr and Mrs A. G. Melles, who have been the guests of Mrs James Fitzgerald, will return to-day to their home in Dannevirke. ¥ ¥ ¥ Mrs Arthur Robins, of Invercargill, spent two days as the guest of Mrs H. de C. McArthur on her way north to spend a holiday in Timaru and Christchurch. ¥ ¥ ¥ Miss Essie Hogarth-Gill, of Wellington, and her sister Arta spent the Christmas and New Year holidays at Walter Peak Station, where they were the guests of their cousin, Mrs John MacKenzie, ¥ ¥ ¥ Mr and Mrs Albert Glue, of Anderson’s Bay, and their daughter, Ngaire, spent the New Year holidays with Mr and Mrs John MacKenzie at their home, Walter Peak Station, v ¥ ¥ Miss Nancy McDonald, of Lovell’s Flat, and Miss L. Midgeley and the Misses Alexander, of Melbourne, have left for a motor tour of the South Island.

Mrs J. Ferris Fuller, of Masterton, will arrive this afternoon to stay with her mother, Mrs F. J. Campbell, of Anderson’s Bay, who has recently returned from a trip abroad.

Mr and Mrs T. George, of Niagara, Southland, who have been touring the southern lakes in their car, spent a short period with Mr and Mrs John MacKenzie, Walter Peak Station, Lake Wakatipu.

Mrs A. A. Tennent, of Wellington, accompanied by her mother, MrsW. JA. McGregor, of Mount Linton Station, Southland, were among the:Visitors at the Hermitage, Mount Cook, for the New Year week.

Major and'Mrs Astley Campbell have arrived from Englandand are at present staying in the ReV/- H/ J. Ryburn’s house, 342 High street. Mrs Campbell, who is well known in Dunedin, has been abroad for the past four years.

Miss Molly McKenzie and Miss Marie Tilleyshort, of Dunedin, and .Miss Islay McKellar, of Alexandra, have returned to Dunedin after spending the Christmas and New Year holidays at Stewart Island. Accompanied by Miss Rena Simpson and Miss Mary Fraser, they will leave on Thursday to spend a fortnight’s camping holiday at Kaka Point.

Prior to his departure for England to join the Royal Air Force, Mr W. Warren was the guest of honour at a farewell dinner at Wain’s Hotel cm Saturday evening. Those present included Misses C. McCormack, G. Rix, and S. Coughlan, and Messrs E. R. Smythe, J. Roberts, E. Cameron, and W. Warren. Later in the evening Mr and Mrs G. Coughlan and family entertained friendc, at an informal party. # # *

Miss Florence Price and Mr Norman Copeland, of Garston. whose marriage is to take nlace on January 18, have been entertained recently at a number of parties. On December 30 Mr and Mrs D. McMillan, of “ Glen-Fallin,” gave a gift evening, when games and other items were enjoyed. Miss Price was presented with a handsome bouquet. The following items were rendered during the evening;—Recitations, Mrs McMillan and Noelcen McCaughan; songs—Mrs T, McLean and Misses N. and M. McCaughan: banjo selections, Mr C. Hurrell.
