An upper denture and a 10s note played prominent parts in a comedydrama enacted in Blenheim during the New Year wee K-end. For those “in the know” it was sheer comedy, but for the two principals the affair bordered on the tragic. The story opened with a man’s attempt to borrow 10s from a barman acquaintance, who de-., manded security for the loan. The set of false teeth was accordingly handed over and the deal clinched. A day or two later the owner of the denture re-, turned the money to redeem his property. And then the barman made the horrifying discovery that he had in. the meantime lost or misplaced his “ security.” A frantic search failed to? bring the teeth to light, and the owner, who . was leaving town on a six-day trip, was forced to, depart toothless and angry. Knowing something about dentist’s bills, the barman did not let, the matter rest, and two days later the teeth were located in a tobacco tin. Until their owner returns they are being taken good care of.
