BURIAL AT SEA

WOMAN PASSENGER'S DEATH

AUCKLAND, Jan. 8.

When the Union Steam Ship Company’s chartered steamer Narbada was three days out from Singapore en route to New Zealand from Calcutta on December 19 the death occurred of a passenger, Mrs Jane Todd, aged 62. The wife of Mr Samuel Todd, of Auckland, Mrs Todd accompanied by her husband and two daughters, was making the round voyage 'on the vessel. The Narbada arrived at Auckland to-day. Mrs Todd became ill at Calcutta. She died early on the morning of December 19 of heart failure and was buried at sea the same day.
