PASSAGES FOR REFUGEES

STOWAWAY ORGANISATION FRENCH SAILORS ARRESTED NEW YORK, Dec. 26, The Le Havre correspondent of the New York Times says the authorities discovered a “de luxe ” stowaway organisation which sold a passage for 25 dollars each to refugees, including a safe landing in the United States on a French line of vessels. The recent cancellation of the sailing of the Normandie owing to the strike revealed the presence of nine stowaways in that vessel. The refugees were provided with excellent meals and comfortable quarters. Two sailors were arrested, and more arrests are expected.
