BOWLING AT QUEENSTOWN
BOXING DAY TOURNAMENT The Christmas-New Year bowling tournament was commenced _ on. the Queenstown greens to-day. Misgivings regarding the weather were dispelled, for the day was fine and bright and sunshine prevailed throughout the day. A large number of Southland and Otago bowlers were present. Eleven rinks took part in the opening games, and all entered heartily into the games. Messrs J. Nisbet and V. Scandrett are again in charge of the arrangements. The former, in welcoming the visitors, referred to the deaths during the year of Messrs P. Israel, J. J. Mcßride, W. Smellie, and D. F. Murchison, and asked bowlers to observe a brief silence.
