OFFICIAL FORECAST MAINLY FAIR TO FINE The following i§ the official weather forecast:— Pressure is rising very slowly over New Zealand, an anti-cyclone being located over the Western Tasman Sea, and moving slowly eastward. A tropical cyclone is centred between Fiji and Tonga, and is moving south-east. Indications are for:—

Winds.—South-west to southerly, strong at first in somd exposed positions over the North Island, but for the most part light to moderate. Seas. —New Zealand, waters: Rather rough at first on the West Coast, but decreasing, and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh south-west to southerly winds and rather rough but moderating seas. Weather.—Scattered local rains still probable, more (especially from the Wellington province southwards, with thunder and hail in places, but fair to fine practically generally to-day; temperatures cool, but rising. IN OTHER CENTRES (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Dec. 22. The day was cloudy and fine with U fresh wind from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees and the barometric pressure fairly steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.75 inches.

WELLINGTON, Dec., 22. The weather to-day was mainly fine but threatening in the afternoon, with a few drops of rain at 2 (/clock, thunderstorms being visible in t/ie distance. A light northerly breeze turned to a southerly in the' afternoon. The minimum temperature lasfc night was 52.9 degrees and the maximum today 55.3 degrees.
