TERM EXPIRES IN MARCH QUESTION OF EXTENSION The Chief of the General Staff of the New Zealand Military Forces, Majorgeneral J. E. Duigan, is due to retire in March.

When the Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) was asked if Major-general Duigan would definitely retire, and who would be likely to replace him, the Minister stated the whole question was one for Cabinet consideration.

Asked if Major-general Duigan's term of service would be extended, the Minister said he was unable to make any announcement.
