BURNS CLUB

MONTHLY CONCERT The final concert and dance for th« year of the Dunedin Burns Club was held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber last night, there being a good attendance. The concert was well varied and very favourably received, and a large number of the audience waited for the dance. The president. Mr Arthur Macdonald, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Burns Club during the year, and stated that he confidently hoped to see the membership figures standing at over 1000 before the next season was completed, He expressed the thanks of the club to all who had given willing help during the year, in particular the committee and the secretary. He then called on the vice-president, Mr M. Campbell, to thank the evening's performers.

The following programme was presented:—Bagpipe selections, Piper McVean; opening ode, " Star o' Robbie Burns "; songs—Mr James Paterson, Miss D. McKay, Mr J: J. Deveraux, Mr A. Walmsley, Mrs Woodhouse, Mr A. Macdonald, Mr Peter Dawson; sword dance, Master J. Flett; duet, Messrs G. McKinlay and W. Finnie; dramatic monologue, Mr Peter Dawson. The accompanist was Miss Mavis Macdonald, and the stage manager Mr J. W. Sutherland. The M.C. for the dance was Mr M. Campbell.
