MR THORBY'S REMARKS
"OBVIOUSLY EXAGGERATED" A STATEMENT ISSUED SYDNEY,,Dec. 21. Mr H. V. Thorby issued a statement to the effect that certain remarks attributed to him by a section of the press in criticism of Mr Curtin had not been fairly stated. He added that those "obviously exaggerated" allusions were built up from what were simply expressions of general exasperation at persistent criticism of Ministers and the Government.
The Sydney. Morning Herald says Mr Lyons has been in touch with Mr Thorby on the subject, and it is known that Mr Lyons regards the matter very seriously. Mr Curtin, in a statement at Perth, said he proposed to take no further action, as it would appear that Mr Thorby, in his latest statement, had made it clear that he had no intention of impugning either his honour or his loyalty. STATION PUT OFF THE AIR SYDNEY, Dec. 21. (Received Dec. 22, at 1.30 p.m.) Labour's broadcasting station 2KY was suddenly put off the air this afternoon' by order of the Post-master-general, Mr A. G. Cameron. It is understood that this arose out of the Thorby-Curtain political controversy.
