BETWEEN THE PURCHASES
RESTFUL BEAUTY SERVICE This is the season of stress and turmoil for women, upon whose shoulders devolve the responsibility of making all those endless purchases for husband, lover, friend, and foe. No complexion, however genuine or schoolgirlish, can hope to withstand the ravages of dust and fatigue without special attention. A service which is both quick and skilled is sure to find favour, more especially at the present time when the holiday season is so close at hand. Such a service is offered by Messrs Arthur Barnett, Ltd., who have installed a restful pink-curtained beauty salon just inside the main door Here, when feeling jaded one can relax under the gentle influence of “ Boyer ” beauty aids and plan what to give Aunt Emily while Miss Marie Melville smoothes the lines away.. The pink upholstered chair may perhaps remind you of the one at the dentist’s, but that is where the association ends—this one helps considerably in the process of relaxation, the first step towards beauty. The pink and white jars contain scientific preparations made at the “ Boyer ” laboratories in France from the recipe of a famous old French chemist. There are two cleansing creams (one containing lemon and used for oily skins). There is a foundation cream and a skin lotion astringent, as well as a special lubricating cream to apply the last thing at night. These are the principal anplications; there are many others, all having a “ quiet and characteristic perfume. “ Smile when you apply your rouge. Miss Melville advises. “ for this brings bright patches to the cheeks and so forms a ‘ colour track to guide you Remember, too. that nothing can alter your appearance so much as a change nf colour in your choice of lipstick. Do not worry if your lipstick is not indelible—it is far more important to obtain the right colour, the one that most enhances the beauty of the eyes.
