A VISIT TO ROME

BRITISH STATESMEN "BEGINNING OF NEW ERA" • British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Nov. 29. Welcoming the announcement that Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halifax are to pay a visit to Rome during the parliamentary recess, The Times says the Anglo-Italian agreement is manifestly the beginning of a new era as well as the closing of an old one. and Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halifax are. going to inaugurate it with Signor Mussolini in person. The Times continues: "When the British Ministers reach Rome there will •be much to discuss, notably Spain and colonial collaboration. Spain is certainly a case where the views of Italy and Britain are not identical, but that is all the more reason for talking them over, and if the talks have a successful outcome they will undoubtedly not be of benefit to Britain and Italy alone."
