RECENT REORGANISATION FIVE TANK DIVISIONS (Independent Cable Service) BERLIN, Nov. 29. The Army Year Book, published to-day, dealing with the recent reorganisation of the army, puts the standing strength of the German army at 1,000,000 men, in six army groups and 18 army corps. Every infantry battalion has a machinegun company, which is now made up of two platoons with four guns each. The third platoon is equipped with heavy grenade-throwers. The infantry is also equipped with light grenade-throwers for clearing out machine-gun nests. There are five tank divisions, and a cavalry brigade distinct from the semi-motorised cavalry regiments, which, in addition to horses, also use motor vehicles and bicycles.
