DEATH IN HOSPITAL MOTOR CYCLIST SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES <Peb United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Nov. 30. The death occurred in hospital of Leslie James Bovcy, aged 22, of Levin, as the result of severe head injuries suffered when his motor cycle collided with a power pole at Weraroa on Sunday morning. COLLISION WITH MOTOR CAR EVIDENCE AT INQUEST ON YOUNG GIRL (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. ."The girl ran into the motor car. She ran across the road from the back of a tram," said a witness at the inquest on Joyce Mable Pointon, aged 12. who was knocked down by a motor car near Chilka street, receiving injuries from which she died. The driver of the motor car. Ronald Keith Mitchell, said he was travelling about 15 miles an hour, and as he came level with an approaching tram, which had just previously stopped, the girl ran out from behind the tramcar and struck his mudguard. In returning a verdict that the girl's death was caused by injuries received in a collision with a motor car the coroner (Mr E. Gilbertson) remarked that the child was, perhaps, hurried and was not looking out. EXPLOSION OF GELIGNITE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE INJURED (Per United Press Association) WESTPORT, Nov. 30. When a charge of gelignite exploded to-day when he was tamping a hole, John Penberth, aged 21, a married man employed by the Public Works Department on the Buller-Inangahua railway, was injured, and removed to the Buller Hospital. The tamping rod blew out, and his head, face and right arm suffered considerably. His condition to-night is fair. TRAGEDY IN CAR MOTORIST FOUND DEAD (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. When G. H. Bayliss, a quarryman, was proceeding along the waterfront drive west of Ohiro Bay about 7 , o'clock this morning, he noticed a car parked by the side of the road with what appeared to be the body of a man in it. He obtained the assistance of the police, and the door was opened. In the seat next to the driver's seat was found the body of Walter Percival Carter, aged 56, who had been living at 65 Cambridge terrace. He had apparently been dead for some hours. The car was parked close to the cliffs at a point about 400 yards from the Happy Valley road junction and some distance from any house. The windows were shut and the doors locked. A rubber tube had been connected to the exhaust pipe and led in through the rear window. The motor had been started, and when the body was found it had stopped either through lack of petrol or through choking. The indications are that the car was driven to the spot at a fairly late hour. EXPLOSION IN LABORATORY David Dick, a married man residing at 82 Gladstone road, North-East Valley, was admitted to the Hospital at 4.30 p.m. yesterday suffering from cuts to the face. The injuries were caused by flying glass in an explosion in the laboratory at Wilson's Brewery.
