PREPARATIONS FOR SURPRISE ELECTION NECESSITY FOR ORGANISATION (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. The official report of the meeting of the National Party held at Wellington last week states that, far from slackening, the National drive is becoming more pronounced. The president (Mr C. H. Weston), in his address, said, after referring to the necessity admitted by the Government that expenditure must be reduced: "I suppose the danger to New Zealand if that rather than face a reduction in the standard of living, they will resort to drastic changes in the economic system."
Members of the council stressed th& necessity for the National Party being organised and prepared to.fight an election at short notice, and arrangement} were made to carry this into effect.
