THE PROBLEM OF EVANGELISM
TO THE EDITOH Sir, —I am glad that Professor Allan put before your readers his position in regard to the great truths of Scripture. Honest folk will be pleased to know that this young and gifted scholar is an earnest evangelical. For myself no assurance was required, as I have heard him speak on different occasions and been much impressed by his sincerity and his messages. But;Li»ould let Professor Allan know that nothing he might: say or do, or, I might say,' will have any appreciable effect on " Maran-atha." It seems to me that this writer is one who is trying to purge his own conscience by attacking prominent servants of the Church, especially of the Presbyterian section. Readers will recall the wellknown couplet . Command for sins they, are in- ' clined to By damning those they have no mind to. Of course in. this instance the sin exists only in.-." Maran-atha's " mind. It is the truths of Scripture that are inspired, not the Aramaic words in which they are contained, or the Greek and English into which these-were translated. , . : * "
We are glad Professor Allan stated his case,' but he' should lose no sleep over anything "Maran-atha" may say I do not'.—l- am, etc., Presbyter. November'24. ../
