FRACAS ON SHIP
FOUR MEMBERS OF CREW IN COURT REMANDED IN CUSTODY (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 28. Four men arrested as the result of a disturbance on the steamer Trojan Star on Saturday evening appeared before Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court to-day. each chaged with assaulting Thomas Fitzpatrick. The accused were Donald Currie Campbell, aged 28, and John McKenna, aged 30 trimmers: Robert Smith, aged 26, greaser, and Harold Stewart Hossad, aged 24, fireman. The police said that all four accused were members of the crew of the Trojan Star. Remands until December 1 were granted in each case.
An application for bail was opposed by the police, who said another man. allegedly assaulted by the accused, was in hospital rather seriously injured. "These men will later be charged with assaulting him," said Detective Sergeant Nalder, "and if they are allowed bail they will be immediately rearrested on another charge of assault causing actual bodily harm." The magistrate refused to grant bail.
