YACHTING

MEETING OF OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held last night, Mr J. D. Cameron presiding over a good attendance of delegates. Drafts of the programmes for the Burkes-St. Leonards and Macandrew Bay regattas, on February 4 and Boxing Day respectively, were received and approved. The Takapuna Boating Club advised that the next Cornwell Cup contest would be held at Plimmerton on January 14, 1939.—1 t was decided that the Otago crew for the contest should proceed to Wellington on January 10. It was decided to pay half the cost of replacing the mast of the Takapuna class yacht Popeye (W. Watson), which was broken in the Cornwell Cup trial race at Port Chalmers on Saturday. Mr A. Cameron reported that the present position in connection with the Vauxhall Cup contest, which was being held in conjunction with the Sanders Cup trials, was as follows: Evelyn 10 points, Lynette 9, Eileen 9. Val 7, Avenger 6, Ripple 6, Heather 4. Colleen 3, Eunice 3, Winifred 2. The next Cornwell Cup trial race was set down to be held at Port Chalmers on December 3, the following trial, on December 10, to be conducted at Ravensbourne.
