A centipede claimed to be one of the largest found in New Zealand has been discovered by Mr C. Lambie, of Arapohue, on his farm at Turiwiri. The centipede, it is stated, measured 9in in length. There is in the Christchurch Museum a centipede which measures Bin. Mr Lambie found the centipede in an old rata log, and shortly afterwards a smaller one, measuring 7in, in a totara log. He placed them in a tin, but when he opened it to preserve them he found that the larger centipede had devoured practically all the smaller one.
